Sup world,
We made it to the end of the week and we're stepping into August, let's get it. In this newsletter I'm going to talk about my experience at San Diego Country Club yesterday stacking content for the SCGA Amateur Championship. I'm also going to share an update on the Henley 2.0s and some wise words from the GOAT himself.
Didn't play any golf this past week, so no new scores :(

A Day at San Diego Country Club
The 123rd SCGA Amateur Championship was held at San Diego Country Club August 2-4. San Diego Country Club was established in 1897 and is located in Chula Vista, CA off of the Telegraph Canyon exit. One of my boys, Marcus, is a freelance videographer and is doing some work with the country club. He knows I am trying to learn how to film clips and shoot photos so he extended an invite to come intern for the day. I stepped onto the course and it was freaaaakkkinnnnnn puuuuurrrrrreeee. I had a great time watching some of the best amateur/college golfers in the area compete for a trophy that has names like Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, and Beau Hossler. I'm also stoked to finally get a camera and create some dope content. A goal of mine is to create content for up and coming junior golfers to get them exposure to top college organizations they dream of playing for. It would be sick for Montes Collective to influence the future of the game and empower them to pursue excellence in their golf game and academics.

Tiger Woods' 5 Golden Rules of Golf
• No 3-Putts
• No Bogeys on Par 5s
• No Blown Easy Up/Downs
• No Doubles
• No Bogeys Within 150 Yards
Yep, well, I break these rules every damn time I play golf haha. It's the first bullet that I battle every time I step foot on the golf course. I fucking hate lag putting. The 3 foot circle drill has definitely helped but sometimes I step up to a lag putt and just spray and pray. If anyone has anything that has helped them with lag putting please send my way.
Beginner golf term of the week: Up & Down
An Up & Down is when a golfer's golf ball is resting off of the putting surface (green), and the golfer takes only 2 shots to get the golf ball into the hole. (UP onto the green, and DOWN into the hole)
If you are off the green, and you hit your next shot onto the green. And you drain your next putt... You just got an Up & Down.
"I have to get Up & Down here for Par."
"Yo Tiger that Up & Down from that bunker was naaasstttyyyy duhhhd."
HENLEYS ARE COMING SOON GET STOKED, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!
Cheers,
JR Montes
