The Golfer's Journal 20th Issue and Soft Opening of Metalwood Studio

Yesterday was Thursday, which is my golf day for the week. For yesterday's round we took our talents to Balboa Park GC located right outside of Downtown San Diego. If you haven't played here yet, it's an absolute gem, especially for the price. BPGC is the oldest municipal golf course in Southern California, built in 1915. You get a fun layout designed by William Bell and amazing views of the San Diego skyline.

Played a little match play against Abe! Abe was 1 up going into 18. On 18, he two-putted for 4 and took the W as I missed my birdie putt to bring the match to AS. GGs, Abe, but don't get used to it.

After the round, I met up with Jess and we drove up to LA for the soft opening of Metalwood Studio's new store on La Brea. We arrived around 8PM to a crowded store neighbored by your familiar streetwear brands in Stussy, Undefeated, and Stone Island. Fucking sick spot. As we walked in, we were greeted by Tim, who heads up Operations for The Golfer's Journal. There were YETI's full of beer courtesy of Golden Road Brewing. House music was blasting but barely audible over the chatter of multiple conversations going on throughout the store. The store was furnished with vintage golf clubs, and posters that honestly, only real golfers would understand and appreciate. It was dope for a golf nerd like me. I walked to the back of the store where Cole Young, Founder of Metalwood Studio, was re-gripping clubs for all people who showed up with their own club. Grips were provided by Golf Pride. I brought in my Titleist 909 F3 that's been in my bag since I was 14 hahaha. Got a freshie for freeeeee, thank you Metalwood Studio and Golf Pride!!

If you're in the LA area, go check this store out. They are doing great things for the culture. Golf culture needs some work lol. Last night was their soft opening but they will be officially open next Wednesday so show some love.
